I've never heard this preached before. When I read the book it was describing my life and as such it has had a profound positive effect upon my outlook. I woud recommend this book to anyone who is intimidated in any way. Maybe you feel self conscious or lacking in self worth. People walk over you. Read this book and let God minister to you.

When I heard about John I thought he would be just another rigid fundamentalist -- sin-conscious and unable to relate to the common Christian. Instead, what I heard was a message of *balance*. He rightfully points out that many of us love God but few of us *respect* Him. As a result we give place, by surrendering our own place, to the devil. The authority God intended for us is taken from us and used against us! This began with Adam who gave place (authority) to the devil and the devil has exercised that authority against man ever since.
John Bevere has a powerful anointing as a result of recognizing his own authority and resisting spiritual intimidation; it shows in this book.
I've been a spirit-filled believer for nearly 20 years and I can't remember being affected so strongly by the words of a minister. Since recognizing my own authority and the temptations to surrender it through various forms of intimidation, I have found a new power and focus. This book helped me do that.

A first class description of how most Christians are unwittingly robbed of their place of authority and reduced to 'hoping' for answers to prayer rather than believing for the results which should be expected from those moving in His authority. Certainly a read for every believer, leader or not. The teaching is abley supported by many examples from John's ministry, successes and failiures alike, and the difference made when he learnt, through the Holy Spirit, to recognise where the believer's authority in Christ is being undermined by fear and intimidation. If you are remotely affected by shyness or fear - or indeed if you have been aggressive or bullying yourself - these shared experiences will help you.
