I bought these boots as I have never yet found a pair of walking boots to be totally comfortable on long distances, and was impressed with the lightness and softness of leather, and the claim that they would not need breaking in. However, the first time I walked up a steep hill, I got blisters. I assumed this was just due to the newness but now 3 years later (yes I gave them a long benefit of doubt!) they still give me blisters on any uphill incline. Another huge issue is that the sole is deadly slippery on wet rocky surfaces and I have gone over many times - my goretex trainers have more grip. For serious walking boots this is totally unacceptable. The only thing in their favour is that they are indeed waterproof. Finally the time has come to look at buying a different pair, I can only wear these if I'm not going to be doing any lengthy walks which include hills!

I've been a fan of Brasher Supalites for a decade & was/am thinking of updating them because of wear. But I am now rather wary. It appears the Supalite II GTX is very different from the traditional Supalite, having an almost flat sole, which lacks the tread of a standard walking boot.

These used to be advertised as for light wear (they had almost glove-like leather) but were excellent every day boots for me but I can't see how they can be anything but slippery without any depth of tread. Some reviewers have also criticised fit, pointing out that they are now made by a different manufacturer & the fit differs, too. As a wide-footed individual, I don't dare buy online & will have to take a good look at these before committing myself to such expenditure.

It doesn't sound too good overall.

And even worse now I've had a reply from Brasher. No, they said, no longer do they have a walking boot sole. They are for light wear. 0/10 Brasher, for putting what seems like an entirely different product out under the name of a deservedly famous one. Having this information direct from the horse's mouth, my score reduces to 1.

These might suit you if you are a first time buyer for a bootish sort of shoe, but don't think you'll be acquiring an improvement, or even a replacement, if you are an old Supalite fan.

I was hesitant about these boots, partly because of some negative reviews on here but also because I really wanted to buy some Meindl boots that were much more modern looking. But the Meindl ones weren't as good a fit and I appreciated how light these are, and they were immediately very comfortable indeed.
I wore them for a couple of evenings around the house, but then went on a fairly long fell walk in the Lakes, with a lot of up and downs and some tricky icy patches. The boots were wonderful - comfortable throughout, totally waterproof, pretty stable on the ice (with care of course) and not a blister or mark on my foot after 3 hours solid walking.
I've got wide feet and am normally a 6.5, but the 7 in these is a perfect fit, so they certainly get a strong recommendation from me.

Second pair i bought my wife. She loved the first pair however was never that confident with the sole. She was always watching her footing however the upper part of the boot and the comfort she felt was second to none.Brasher have changed the boot totally and i read reviews that it is not to the good. Most people say to the detriment of them.Thing is my wife says the top of the boot is nowhere near the quality of its predecessor however feels the sole of the boot has improved. Focussing on the sole the last ones were like racing sliks within a year or so and had to be thrown out as well as the footing concern i have covered. She feels more sure footed in these and feels they will last longer...so all in all a mixed bag but i think 3/5 is the best i can give for the price u still pay

Decided to try Brasher, as everyone raves about them and no other brand remains waterproof with daily dogwalking though long grass. Tried my usual size (5) but found them tight at the toes so ordered 5.5. I had noted comments about blisters from the tight fit at the heel, and very grateful for that advice. I wore the boots for 20 mins each day for the first couple of weeks, to wear them in. Had I gone straight out for a long walk with them, I would certainly have been uncomfortable, even though I have narrow heels. As it is, I am very happy with the boots, which are now comfortable and fully waterproof (I also spent 10 mins dubbinning them before first use), but don't understand why Brasher are now making the heel so snug.
