A good solid read with plenty of emotional tension, action adventure and mind games.
Love how this story is told through Jenni's eyes. It keeps things somewhat veiled and naive. There's loads of weird experiences that Jenni thinks of as normal, such as regularly upping sticks in the middle of the night which results in a very isolated life. The whole subject of relationships is widely explored because of this. We see how she learns to trust, to make friends, to perhaps love.
The paranormal aspect of this novel can be quite frustrating and difficult to understand. This is because no-one has explained it all to Jenni. Who and what are Jacob, Dylan, Anna and Josef? What is Jenni? As a result I am eager to read the next in the series to see how the non-human world unfolds and how it affects Jenni's story.
