A very good book with lots of well captioned colour photo's. It is set out in a series of sections each featuring a different subject matter, starting with Vacuum/Unbraked trains and ending with Departmental. The photo's are of various locations throughout Britain, and feature most of the classes that were around during the 1980s. It's one of a series of, (uptil now)three books, all with excellent photo's capturing the era perfectly. I eagerly look forward to the soon to be published fourth volume in the series.

Superb photography taking me back to some good memories of freight and locomotives in the 1980s. The book is square format covering most of the UK and lots of classes of loco diesel and electric. Photography is front 3/4 in sun, covering the differnt types of freight traffic. What has made it more so for me is several pictures from my local spots of Burton/Loughborough. But photographs from all parts of the UK are covered in some form, some more than others. An excellent visual record to take you back to the 1980's busy freight scene.

If you were a 'spotter' in the 70s BUY THIS BOOK! It is a great read. There is a wealth of detail with many shots showing loads of scenics around the trains; very helpful for anyone modelling this era.
