BOSU balance trainer, 2 April 2009
This review is from: BOSU Balance Trainer - Home Model (Misc.)
The BOSU balance trainer is an expensive piece of equipment.
It is hard wearing and can be particularly useful in certain situations.
Both sides can be used upwards. Generally for most exercises the ball side is used up. Do not be deceived this is still unstable!
I am unaware what the exercises that come with the BOSU are like, as mine came from a shop and without, however, there are plenty of good exercises to be found on youtube.
The BOSU comes in its own for rebabilitation after knee surgery, once the wobble board become less interesting and easy, the BOSU always taxes you. Squats, both one legged and two legged are much more difficult on the BOSU as are other exercises. It is also used for preski exercises.
Recommended for all proprioception exercises and for rehab after knee surgery.

Great purchase!, 14 Nov 2009
This review is from: BOSU Balance Trainer - Home Model (Misc.)
Having used the commercial version of the BOSU at my local health club I knew how good they were for improving core stability and how very simple exercises are made so much tougher when done using a naturally "unstable" balance board. At the health club, with professional supervision and using the commercial version, the BOSU cured a serious ligament injury and quickly got me fit again for skiing. This version for home use is certainly of lighter construction but is still of great quality. It comes with a selection of dvds that you can use almost as a personal trainer, provided that you can see a TV or computer screen whilst using the BOSU. It has been brilliant for me, increasing my leg strength and toning abs in a very short space of time - half an hour per day, 3 times a week has been sufficient. It has speeded up my recovery from a second knee injury that I hadn't been able to shake off pre-purchase. It also comes with a little foot pump, "resistance handles" and a wall-chart illustrating a selection of exercises. I would recommend a BOSU to anyone that would like to get fit and improve their balance, particularly for skiing or snowboarding, that doesn't have lots of space or time to go the gym.

BOSU Balance Trainer - Commercial
This was recommended to me after I seriously damaged my knee skiing. I have used it every day both pre and post ACL reconstruction and it has really helped both my prioperception and core strength, as well as improving both my quads and restrengthening the hamstring following the op. Instead of slopping in front of the TV I use the ball to build up my strength ready for skiing again.
The reason I still use it is because it is really good fun to use. I'm telling everyone who will listen that they really need one of these. I wouldn't be without mine
