More About the Author

Dana E. Donovan grew up in New England where folklore and superstitions can mold a town's history as much as its people. As a boy, he loved reading Sherlock Holmes mysteries and tales of adventure by Mark Twain. Later, he became a big fan of Stephen King, and when he started writing his own mysteries, influences from all his literary heroes began echoing in his writings. In this blended style, Dana exploits small town phenomena, perpetuating the enigma of its people and the belief in all that dies is not dead.

3.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment 9 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed the first three books in this series, so was looking forward to reading this one. What a disappointment!! The change of narrative style, which involves each chapter being written from a different characters' perspective, is very confusing. I read on Kindle, so it is not quick & easy to flick through pages, as I could in book form. So if I had to leave a chapter in the middle, for some reason, getting back & having the story being told in the first person, left me wondering which "I" was talking!!
Also, there is one protracted scene - I won't say which, for fear of spoiling other readers' enjoyment - that is over-long & rather stupid. I had to skip it, as it was really annoying.
I am reluctant to buy the next book in the series, for fear of wasting my money - I don't I want to read another one written in this confusing style.
Beware buyers - this one is not so good!!

4.0 out of 5 stars easy reading and decent plots 31 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The detective element and the witchcraft do go together in a clever and believable storyline - for me anyway.
Characters are likeable and interesting in their own rights.
