The Boa is used for many plumbing jobs, on cars and irregular shapes and provides over 2,000lb of pressure without marking the workpiece. Both strength and flexibility are provided by the braided rubber strap, which fits into a slot in the handle of the tool and provides a perfect fit on the workpiece. The wrench diameter is from 10-100 mm.
In 1994 the world's first multi-use strap wrench was developed. The company Boa was set up two years later to market and distribute this product on a global basis. The boa constrictor strap wrench sold in excess of 15 million units, making it a phenomenally successful invention. Building on this success, Boa went on to develop world firsts in many areas of the hand and power tool accessory markets.

A plastic nut on a waste water pipe had come undone. As it had to be secured more than finger tight, I used this strap wrench after doing some internet research. It worked a treat, as it created the torque, but without damage that a metal wrench would have caused. It will also be useful for opening jars.

I bought this for undoing the tops of chrome taps - it was easy to use and worked really well. One word of caution - I was surprised how big it was, so it is worth checking the size. For some smaller items you might want to buy the smaller version.

This wrench is substantially constructed and works reasonably well. The only drawback is that the strap is not very pliable due to its thickness and with its smooth surface tends to slip on the surface of an oily filter.
