2.0 out of 5 stars Only covers models up to 1997, 20 July 2004
This review is from: BMW M Series (Collectors Guide) (Paperback)
Being a BMW "M" series fan, I was naturally attracted to this book. However, imagine my disappointment when I opened to package to find it only covered models up to 1997, not mentioned on the cover. 1997 models, being 7 years old are quite frankly out of date. For a classic "M" enthusiast this would be an interesting book, but for those who dream of the the latest M3 and M5s and their superb designs it scores only 2 stars I'm afraid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Early M-series only, 13 Jan 2010
By
J. A. Scott (Tyne & Wear, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: BMW M Series (Collectors Guide) (Paperback)
This publication is part of the Collectors Guide series and follows the usual format - development history, motorsport involvement, guide to owning a BMW M-series and a guide to production, performance and technical specifications.

The book starts with a history of BMW's Motorsport division, the birth of the M1 and the development from warmed over standard cars like the E12 535 to hand built E34 M5's and the virtually mass-produced E36 M3.

The latest cars are the E36 M3 and M Roadster so this book isn't for you if you're looking for the latest models.

Pictures are mostly black and white though there are some nice colour plates too but it's not a "coffee table" picture book. Each model is given coverage but there isn't room for really in-depth reviews.

Overall, good value for the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars BMW M-SERIES, A COLLECTORS GUIDE, 10 Aug 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: BMW M Series (Collectors Guide) (Paperback)
This book although well written omits the E39 edition of the M5 which has been out for more than two years. The book has a pub date of Feb 2000. This is unfortunate.
