very robust and fantastic value,
By Ivor "Ivor" (Northumberland, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: BMC 18" Push 4.5HP Petrol Lawn Mower (Misc.)
Having previously had a cheap mower from Homebase with a poor quality Briggs and Stratton Engine, this BMC is in a completely different league. It's well designed, very robust and the Wolf 4.5HP engine didn't miss a beat cutting through foot high grass. It's quieter than my old mower too. The height adjustment controls all four wheels, the basket stays in place and there are quick release mechanisms for folding down the handle for easy storage. It has a solid steel base. The engine has a manual choke and idle setting and an oil drain plug, so you can change the oil easily (the last machine didn't.)The only minor niggle is the black dip stick, which means it isn't that easy to see the oil level, especially when you have just topped up the oil, which gives a false reading for a few minutes until the oil has settled. The machine arrived really quickly from UKHS virtually fully constructed. Smashing.

BMW 18" Push mower 4.5HP Petrol lawn mower,
This review is from: BMC 18" Push 4.5HP Petrol Lawn Mower (Misc.)
Thought i would spend a little time to write my review on this fantastic product. In its range it clearly is great value for money, it cuts well, has a very powerful motor for its range and price, very well built, in regards to grass cutting it cuts really well , has a big cutting width and I finally have a nice stripes on my lawn! The mower starts first time and is easy to use. It was delivered by the company who delivered it within 1 day and when I took it out the packaging it took all of 10 mins to read the instructions and put together. I also like the fact that its light but at the same time there is not much flimsy plastic components that are likely to break over time and the base is a solid steel component. If I had one small grumble like all petrol lawn mowers you will need the 4 stoke mower oil, however you don't need to buy BMC's Fuchs Oil as it recommends in the BMC booklet, B&Q provide the same oil or order with Amazon on purchase. I did not realise I needed oil until I had received the BMC mower! Over all I'm really pleased with this product and would recommend!

Beware - poorly assembled and untested,

This review is from: BMC 18" Push 4.5HP Petrol Lawn Mower (Misc.)
After assembling the hand control/push bar, which is delivered laying on top of the mower, my Son spent two days trying to start the engine. With the help of a friend it was found necessary to partialy strip the mower to access the engine cut out switch which had not been incorrectly installed. After adjustment the mower did start but the problem will require a permanent solution when time allows. The engine cut out switch is an important safety feature and must be adjusted correctly to avoid acidents - this mower has a metal blade. Beware - you may need mechanical experience to keep this mower operational.
