I surmised, after using "Your Family A Medical Advisor", published by Family Circle and bought in Australia 25 years ago, that medicine had advanced as much as technology. That being the case, I researched a replacement and selected the BMA's "A-Z Family Medical Encyclopedia". What a gem! What an education! Written in very user-friendly format, my hypochondriac Mrs and I investigated every ailment and complaint she suspected she might have contracted over her lifetime and it was brilliant. Then, within a couple of weeks, I was admitted to hospital in the middle of the night and diagnosed with gall stones and a shedload of associated problems! Ten days later, having been discharged, I reviewed my diagnosis in our recent purchase and was amazed at how it described, in layman's terms, everything anyone could possibly want to know about the gall bladder, gall stones and every aspect of any necessary operation. Brilliant! Simply brilliant and every family should have copy.
