5.0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money 4 Jan 2012
Bought the oak veneered version of this. When assembled and full of CDs looks great. Assembly requires some care as the vertical lengths come in two parts which requires that they must be tightly screwed together to form a good join. During construction care is particularly needed in handling and moving these, and you need plenty of flat space to work in, as these long joined lengths are not rigid until all the main cross pieces are screwed in place. For appearance, I chose to use 10 gauge brass screws with brass cups on outer sides (6 on each side), in preference to covering the countersunk heads of the screws with veneer patches. I'd suggest using small proper metal angle brackets on the top to fix it solidly to a wall (instead of the straps provided). It looks great when erected and filled with CDs and, despite my comments about the fixings, I've given it 5 stars as it is good value for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full Agreement 8 Feb 2012
Verified Purchase
I am in full agreement with the previous reviewer. This is an excellent item and once I worked out where everything went the construction process was a straightforward event, though you do need to make sure that the screws are tightly screwed in to ensure it all holds together at the end. The shelves look good and when filled with CDs and DVDs is steady on its feet even without attaching it to the wall, something we can't do in our house. I am very pleased with this item and would definitely purchase another if and when the need arises.

1.0 out of 5 stars rubbish 15 Oct 2012

item arrived and was easy for me to assemble however the locknuts broke on two sections which resulted in me having to purchase brackets to stabalise the unit, luckily for me the unit is behind a TV and covers most of the area's that dont line up, i would not have purchased if i had realised how bad it was, I would not recommend this product

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb! 8 Aug 2012

This was one of the nicest pieces of flat-pack furniture I've ever put together!

The packaging was great - enough to ensure the product arrived in perfect condition but not so much that you're filling the recycling bin for the next month!

Each item is labelled clearly so you don't have to spend ages identifying which piece is which by counting the holes and deciding which is left or right, and even each separate bag of fittings is labelled with numbers.

The instructions were clear and easy to follow with a mixture of text and diagrams, and I managed to complete it within an hour.

The finished item looks sturdy and elegant, although as I'm using it for storing a combination of CDs and DVDs I found spacing the shelves in the most economical way a bit tricky.

A superb piece of furniture and great fun to construct!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor 9 Sep 2012

Unlike other reviewers, we did did not have such a good experience of this item. For a start, it had a missing part. We contacted the e-mail address supplied & were furnished with the part fairly quickly. However, we found that the new part required longer camlock screws to the ones supplied. The original parts are drilled & fitted with 34mm camlock screws. The new part has been drilled for use with 44mm camlock screws which were not supplied.

We contacted Watsons who said that they would get back to us in about half an hour. Several days later we were still waiting, so purchased some 44mm camlock screws from e-bay so we could get on with the build.

Once these obstacles were out of the way, the rest of the build was straightforward. Howerver, once we had constructed the carcass, we discovered that the drill holes that take the small metal shelf dowles were fractionally mis-drilled on one part, so the the shelves on one of 4 bays are not dead straight.

We purchased this item to store DVDs, as it it sold as CD/DVD storage unit. The shelf spacings are fine for just CDs, but for DVDs there is some wasted & unused space.

We have bought other storage items in this range from Watsons & these have been excellent. It also seems that compared to other reviewers that we have been unlucky. However, this does not excuse the poor construction & poor customer service that we have have experienced.
