On this album "the magnificent three" left Brygga Studio in Trondheim to go to Sweden and the legendary Atlantis Grammofon, where ABBA recorded most of their albums. The reason was simple; the band wanted a studio that was totally analogue. And they got it.
From the previous albums, Lobotomizer, Demon Box and Timothy's Monster, in addition to a number of ep's and single's, MP takes a huge step towards pop. And if you undress what seemingly is heavy, heavy rock, you will find the most melodic small pop tunes. Like Nerve Tattoo, which is pure pop. Greener is another melancholy pop-song, and this is also the first album where Snah is really belting it out. Favourite tracks are Sinful windborn, STG, Greener and Nerve Tattoo.
Not their best album, but really tighly produced and coherent sound.

One of my absolute favourite from the 90's now in XL version. Sheer genius as always from this Norwegian band

A place to start 12 Dec. 2001
By Pål Nordseth - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
To explore Motorpsycho - doubtless one of the most challenging, innovative rock bands still active - it is not only advisable to start with Blissard, their most accessible album to date. It might even be a necessity if one wants get to grips with the bands formidable, fantastic and ferocious work. Placed somewhere between kraut-rock, progressive rock, jazz avantgardism and power pop, the Norwegian sometime-quartet, sometime-trio has stunned an European audience starved for intelligent music - yet they remain relatively unknown outside their hardcore audience.
If more people had a taste of "Blissard", that could change. With absolute showstoppers such as "Nerve Tattoo", but also including more esoteric compositions such as "Nathan Daniel's Tune From Hawaii" (!) and "S.T.G.", this is both an album to sing along to and an album fairly representative of the band. Start here - and you won't stop until most of the Motorpsycho albums stand firmly on your livingroom shelf. Take it from one who's tried.

Combinations of noise, turning out to be relaxing.... 6 April 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Blissard is a "four star" record( I never give five stars unless the band gives me a ton of money....) full of noise, loud guitarplaying, wonderful moods and extremely beautiful rainy-day songs. This record is a product of great sounds by the norwegian superliveband Motorpsycho. Some of the songs are totally chilled down, and allow you to sit and look out of the window whilst thinking of the woman/man in your dreams, as you hardly notice what is going around you, because you are trapped in the beautiful rusty voice of the vocalist. The more loud parts of the record will give you a peace of mind never before experienced, as Motorpsycho give you noise that are combined in swirling spirals up to a climax, and then, as you are trapped, they give you a little bit more. And there, you can not help it, you are addicted to Motorpsycho. The problem about Motorpsycho is that they will never go commercial, and sell a bunch of records. They like playing music for crowds who have discovered their music, not people who listen to whatever is on the radio.... I tell you, listen to this record and you will be present at their next consert. They're even better live.

Beauty and noise perfectly blended once again 24 Oct. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I'm not sure if I have ever heard anything as good as the first four or five songs on Motorpsycho's Blissard. Sweet and funny pop melodies covered in experimental mud and noise as only Motorpsycho can do it. The rest of the album is brilliant as well, although it can't compete with the opening section. "Drug thing" and Greener are rock anthems that could be compared to any other song of the nineties. It doesn't matter if you're into rock or pop or even easy listening, this album covers it all and will give you what you need.
The best Band you never heard of 23 Mar. 1999

Take Led Zeppelin, add some Sonic Youth, some perfect pop and you've got a great album that covers a lot of ground - fantastic ecstatic guitars, and a modern fresh sound that makes the whole album exciting. Only motorpsycho could put on a record the melodic soft lullaby "Nathaniel's tune from Hawaii" Too bad mpsycho seems happy with their limited commercial success - such music is too good to remain unknown. Go see them live if you can: they played the US at SXSW in Austin, TX and blew everyone away (the audience, as well as all other bands who played a gig). Get a hand on "Timothy's Monster", on "Angels and Deamons at Play" and on their latest "Trust US". You will send me an email and thank me for it...
Norway's calling to the far away lands 20 Jan. 2014

this is my personal favorite among their albums.I play it every day.the other reviewers have given the info
on the band and so on,read all of them.this is for fans of (especially)Sonic Youth, but also Pixies,Tangerine Dream,
Floyd and heavy metal.sometimes it's punk/hardcore too.
Blissard has something for everyone.it's a masterpiece without a doubt.and I'm not saying that too
often about anything.all alt rock/stoners and music lovers need this album.
Motorpsycho is Europe's best band since 1994.i wish people would find out.
