At the start you have to just do a short tutorial level under the Gauls, a few levels long. Then you go on to the Romans and further on the Celts. There is no plot under the Gauls (as would be expected as it just a tutorial.) It wouldn't be fair of me to say you don't build an empire as you do but not as you want to. You complete levels which mean you take over certain places but they don't correspond with each other.
Like Rome: Total War as this was released in 2005 I would expect it to need a relatively high memory and graphics card on the computer to play the games. For Legion Arena you actually don't and considering this matter at hand the graphics aren't bad. When fighting the characters themselves look a little more realistic than in Rome: Total War, with the terrain and weather being very good.
A major downfall is that it is really a very easy game. It gets harder as it goes but really too easy. Maybe its just the fact that if I lived in them times I would be a first class general but probably not.
I give it 3 stars mainly down to the fact that it doesn't have the things that Rome: Total War has but apart from that it's not actually a bad game.
If you're interested in Rome in a really sad way like I am then get this game if not then stick to Rome: Total War.
