Book Description

The book contains not only the story of the Custer massacre, but also a collection of historical printed material, for the student, who desires to go deeper into the subject of the Little Bighorn massacre, thus making it a valuable reference work. It portrays in a vivid manner the causes that lead to these battles and the conspiracies that followed like the "Mary Adams affidavit". The Little Bighorn disaster will remain always in the minds of the American people as one of the greatest horrors of the 19th Century.
For generations the awful tragedy of the Custer massacre , will be remembered with feelings of sorrow. This disaster was a veritable carnival of death. Caught like rats in a trap, without a chance of escape, these hapless victims were abandoned on the battlefield, shot, scalped and then desecrated by the angry tribe after their deaths. This is their story.

Forget all the other books you have read about Custer and his last stand because this is the only true account because it contains "Rain in the face"' account of the battle.
It was very interesting to note the fact that General Custer had shorn his locks prior to the battle thus the Indians could not find him although his corpse was not mutilated or Scalped but had 2 bullet wounds to the head suggesting suicide.
I have read many books about Custer including his wife's account and I believe this one as it ties in with his character of daring do.
This book also gives an authentic insight to army life on the plains with descriptions of all the maim players be they indian or soldier scout or pretender.

5.0 out of 5 stars When the West was wild 15 Mar. 2014

This is an extensive collection of sometimes hard to get and expensive primary materials. The coverage is broader than the title suggests and this volume is an excellent choice for anyone interested in the late nineteenth wars on the western plains.

Great Book, Interesting Views,
Interesting when numerous people at the same incident perceive it in totally different light.
Sad how people and government can justify these things.

4.0 out of 5 stars So much info in this book, almost 900 pages ... 2 Sept. 2014

So much info in this book, almost 900 pages, reported indian battles during the "indian war years", really gives you a sense of what went on inthose decades. I find it fascinating still working on it, probably finish it in a few days. this book is more than the Little Big Horn Battle, it is a chronological compilation of events between the American Indian tribes, and the western movement of a nation in its infancy.
