Book Description

16 July 2007
With the proliferation of the Internet into our lives, there is an explosion of people wanting to find out about the BDSM lifestyle and culture. They turn to the net because they can do so without their wife, husband, boss, neighbor, etc. finding out about their kinky interests. To be sure, there is a wealth of information on the internet, and some of it is actually correct too! The key problem with using the Internet as a source for information is that what you are reading is often incomplete or not balanced. The author of the information is providing what he/she believes to be correct, but does not make an effort to say: "There are other opinions." The Internet has created a whole sub-culture inside of the BDSM lifestyle. There are just some things that you can't do on-line that you can do in real life. For example, in real life a slave might avoid eye contact to show deference and respect. You can't do that on-line, or you can't read the screen. So, in the on-line world, we use conventions like capitalizing dominant's names and not capitalizing submissive's names. If a person's only experience is on-line, they assume that this is a "rule" that everyone knows and follows. . . . It isn't! There are as many combinations of "rules" as there are people to make them, and not one is universal. In this volume, Ralph White strives to present not only his point-of-view, but other views to which he doesn't necessarily subscribe. The overriding principle in his book is: "If it works for you, it is okay for you." In this text you will find chapters dealing with these topics:  Chapter 1: So, you think you're kinky?  Chapter 2: Kinkiness and Religion  Chapter 3: Collars  Chapter 4: Limits  Chapter 5: Relationships  Chapter 6: The Internet  Chapter 7: To "Sir" or not to "Sir" (Protocol)  Chapter 8: What if something goes wrong?  Chapter 9: Dealing with the 'nillas  Chapter 10: Fantasy or reality?  Glossary Each chapter is accompanied by a fictional story that is intended to entertain the reader. However, through the entertainment, hopefully a sense of reality will be gained as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars BDSM PRIMER 23 Aug 2007
By Big Jim - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Book was very informative for one that is considering that lifestyle. Great stories (on the "straight" side). The only problem I had with the book was the grammer, mis-spelled words, words that were in sentences that had to be re-read (some times several times) trying to figure out what word should have been in the sentence in order to make it make sense. Obviously, the publisher did not take the time to use the spell or grammer check, or to read the prototype copy befor sending it to print (I have better things to do with my time than to sit trying to figure out what was trying to be said in a book and expect the publisher todo a better job than they did. AUthor needs to get onto them about it).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read 10 Mar 2008

Ralph has done a fantastic job of getting into the heads of those starting in the Lifestyle and also very interesting for experienced. The short stories included with this are very captivating and entertaining, while also providing for the opportunity for various scenes to set up.

I highly recommend this book and would hope to see more from this author and obviously accomplished Dominant.
