5.0 out of 5 stars Everything the body needs 18 Aug 2010
By A. Wye
This little box is brilliant it has everything you need, well everything my unit required me to have. Be warned though, when you unpack make sure you remember the order in which the things were in otherwise it can be a pig to pack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really does what it says on the tin! 10 Sep 2010
Verified Purchase
I bought this for my nephew as he is really into camping etc with the Scouts. It is amazing what can be packed into such a small tin, and I mean it is a small tin. I have it on my nephews authority and he has used this properly in the field that it is a handy bit of kit. Used in anger, in the rain, wind and the wilds of a camp I can report that it works. The contents are sturdy enough to withstand what it has been designed for. The seal in the tin that keeps it water tight works extremely well.

It is also value for money when considering how much it would cost in time and energy to put together yourself.

My nephew feels that it only has one downside to it. it does not contain and axe! Probably because they couldn't fit it in the tin!

3.0 out of 5 stars Survival in a tin too small. 14 July 2014
Verified Purchase
Being my first survival kit, this is based on my expectations of what it would be like.

First off, the tin is bulging with stuff. It says on the contents that there is Vinyl Tape, that's true, blue it's wrapped around the tin to keep it shut. If you used if for an emergency the tin will not keep shut. Could do with a better tin, one that shuts without the tape.

The survival instructions were in the box that it came in, not in the tin, bit strange, seeing that I would have thought you would want them in there.

The knife is a lock knife, illegal to carry in public. 4 years in prison and 5,000 fine. This really needs to be changed for a knife that the blade doesn't get held open. Swapped mine for one that doesn't. Tinder consists of a cotton wool ball, bit cheap, but would do in an emergency I suppose.

It also comes with a handle!!! It's just a bit of metal bent round and looks like the tin goes in between it, but it's not very stable and I wouldn't risk using it to carry anything.

The rest of the tin looks ok plenty to keep you going if you need to, it just needs some improvement to make it really good.

Only gave it 3/5 if the other issues were addressed it would be a 5.
