As the title suggests this is a recording of the 90s King Crimson early in its career. Although the title implys that its a bootleg the sound quality is phenomenal - almost as good as their studio albums. What it lacks in sound quality it more than makes up for in spontaneity and inspirational peformances. The set is also a very good compilation of 80s and 90s King Crimson tunes containing great versions of Elephant Talk, Thrak, Indiscipline and Frame By Frame to name just a few. In comparison with Vrooom Vrooom released last year the performances are not quite as polished - this is to be expected since this version of the band had only been together around 6 months and these were the new band's earliest live performances. Compare the versions of B'Boom and Thrak with the versions on Vrooom Vrooom - the versions here are interesting because they are so different - not quite so manic and atonal as later versions. This live set is also interesting because of versions of 80s songs which were not performed later by this band - Sleepeless and Heartbeat for example. To sum up I would say that this is an excellent live album well worth buying. However, if you have limited funds you would probably be better off buying Vrooom Vrooom because this is a better representation of the 90s King Crimson.

This album is absolutely brilliant! If you are not familiar with the output of the contemporary King Crimson, then this is most definitely the place to start. This live double CD showcases the phenomenal talent of the 'double trio' line up of Fripp/Belew/Gunn/Levin/Bruford/Mastelotto and is a perfect companion to the "Thrak" album.

This album was released so there was an official alternative to shelling out money for a poor quality bootleg of one of King Crimson's Buenos Aires live shows from October 1994. It is taken from DAT soundboard recordings and the sound quality is fantastic: it is really powerful and clear.

There are a number of tracks from the "Thrak" album on both discs, as well as classic tracks from both the '70s and the '80s King Crimson albums. This album acts as both a superb compilation and also as a great album in its own right. VERY highly recommended.

All grown up NOW! 11 Mar 1999

This album is a must have, along with Thrak, Thrakattak and Vrooom. Now free of a bad contract Fripp and gang have taken their writing and musicianship to the next level. Keep in mind that Indiscipline and Elephant Talk were written over twenty five years ago and have never sounded this powerful. This new double trio brings this music to a point so far removed from the original recordings as to make earlier albums nearly obsolete. The sound quality is excellent and the forcfulness of the newer compositions is breathtaking. I had the good fortune to see them on this tour and was completly floored. Having not seen the band since the early seventies it was quite a shock. Red is probably the song that most benefitted from this newer lineup and it's more recent cousins Vrooom, Thrak and B'boom will blow you away. There is a video from this tour available, recorded live in Japan, that I highly recommend. Also, I think a second video will be available shortly. Yes, there is still some of the beautiful dreamy sounds of the seventies but buy this album for the maturity of the band and the power of the music. PLAY IT LOUD!

A very powerful desmostration of wath they can do 10 Dec 1998

This records shows the most important qualyties of this "not just fripp" band. You can check all the Adrian's guitar madness in, for example, the Elephant Talk solo, and the very impressive combination of the Mark Warr Guitar's Style of Trey Gunn with the "hey, here i'am" of Tony Levin (just take a look at Vroom Vroom's interlude before the income of the guitars). Drummers can't get down of all this enegy. Bruford and Mastelloto show a sinergy that not anyone may. I really enjoyed the Elephant Talk Intro, performed in a way that " how i'd liked to be there that night". But we're just humans, and our chance to dream is listening this CD.
