Recorded at the 1980 Reading festival, this was the last gig this line up ever played, and they certainly went out in some style. I can still remember the show like it was yesterday, with Pat Travers (in spanking form, it has to be said) struggliing to keep up with fellow guitar player Pat Thrall who was quite simply on fire. Swapping solos and adding texture to a selection from their long career, Travers and Thrall are heard going at it hammer and tongs. Highlights are Hooked on Music, Born under a Bad Sign, Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights) and (of course) the seminal Snortin' Whiskey. With Tommy Aldridge on Drums and the amazing Peter "Mars" Cowling on Bass, adding power and style, this was a truly unforgettable gig and is a great showcase for Travers, but more so for Thrall.
Pat Travers is still treading the boards, and so is Pat Thrall occasionally but they have never sounded better than they did that Bank Holiday weekend in 1980. Ahh nostalgia! Make mine a pint!
