Battered into Submission is a brave and challenging book which deserves to be read. It covers a subject most Christians would rather believe does not exist - wife abuse in Christian marriages. The authors - James and Phyllis Alsdurf - both counsellors with long experience in this field - describe the hell that some women endure at the hands of their husbands, and gives an informative insight into a problem which by its very nature all too often remains hidden. Such a victim can be torn between exposing the abuser, thereby being responsible for his loss of position and the family home, and doing what she may consider to be her Christian duty to stay and save her husband from himself.
