5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting and informative read 15 Oct 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Before I began reading this, I thought it would be fairly dry: I could not have been more wrong. It is a cracking read, full of detailed accounts of interest to military historians but also the anecdotal snapshots that bring history to life for the casual reader. Anyone interested in what it's like for a bunch of lads to be swept from civilian life one day and into battle shortly after should read this; a sparkling tribute to the 8th.
