BESTSELLING THRILLER BY EDGAR NOMINEE PAUL LEVINE

"BALLISTIC is 'Die Hard' in a missile silo.  Terrific!" - Stephen J. Cannell

OVERVIEW

A Nuclear Missile...

A Band of Terrorists...

And Only Two People Who Can Prevent Armageddon.

When a doomsday cult captures an U.S. Air Force missile base, it's up to a lowly sergeant and a female psychiatrist to prevent a nuclear holocaust.  That's the setup of BALLISTIC, the chilling new thriller from the Edgar-nominated author.

If you like the action adventure thrillers of Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Stephen Coonts, or Vince Flynn, you'll love BALLISTIC from Paul Levine, winner of  the John D. MacDonald fiction award, and nominee for the Edgar, Macavity, International Thriller, and James Thurber prizes. Available in both e-book and paperback formats.

RIPTIDE: Lassiter chases a beautiful, deadly woman and stolen bonds from Miami to Maui.

IMPACT: A law clerk seduces and extorts her boss - the newest Justice on the Supreme Court - to win his vote in a multi-million-dollar air crash case.  The results are lethal.

THE ROAD TO HELL: A Kindle 99-cent special.  Four thrilling short stories: "Solomon & Lord: To Hell and Back," "Development Hell," "A Hell of a Crime," and "El Valiente en el Infierno."  A hellishly good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay 16 July 2012

This is not as good as the US reviews will lead you to believe. The action is not as fast paced as, say, Matthew Reilly or Jeremy Robinson. This is also certainly not as good as classic Tom Clancy. Also this was not as good by half as Die Hard as referred to in other reviews (perhaps more Under Siege 2)

This being said, the book was enjoyable albeit unbelievable.

Ballistic is the story of how a religious sect seek to hijack a nuclear weapon to unleash Armageddon on the world. Only a good-for-nothing sergeant can stop them.....

The story is fine, its got comic interludes, pacy action, love interest, etc., but ultimately there is nothing to see here. The fact that it took me months to finish speaks volumes. There's nothing really wrong with it, just not much to celebrate.

Its a good action novel, with a highly predictable, formulaic plot and ending. The characters are, for the most part, cliche, however it is well written enough to keep you going until the end.

Dare I suggest an alturnate ending? 'Suddenly the sky over ( spoiler ) became as a white light. The end had begun.'
However not to be.
A bit of a slow starter but otherwise just another shoot em up, the good guy wins, saves the day and the girl book.
This would however make a good movie for Heros like Steve Segal ect
Just a fun read for a summer,s day.
