My boyfriend and I were going travelling for a couple of months and I wanted to buy a new travel game that would keep us entertained occasionally over a bottle of wine in the evening. I was planning on buying Monopoly or Scrabble, but I came across this game by accident and was convinced by the positive reviews. I'm so glad. For the two months we were away we played this practically every night. On the nights we didn't because, heaven forbid, we ended up out late enjoying the places we were travelling to, we said sadly as we got into bed "Oh, we didn't get to play Backpacker tonight!" If you're looking for something a bit different to play and you don't mind spending an hour at the beginning learning how to play it (for which there are very clear instructions so even the learning process is enjoyable) then this is definitely worth it.
It's also very good quality - it went round the world with us and whilst the box is now a little battered all the cards are still in near-perfect condition and just needed a bit of a wipe down to remove all the sun cream snd wine that had been stuck to them!

My children were taught this game by their cousins and then taught me - we have all become hooked... Can seem a little complicated at first but as soon as you get the hang of it there are hours and hours of fun to be had

On opening the pack it is easy to be put off by the comlexity of the game & the rules - but don't be. Stick with it. Take your time to read the rules & play one round with an 'open' hand. Its a good poratble family game, with older kids.
