Review

'One of the wildest and most entertaining writers in the world' --Financial Times

'Tom Robbins has a grasp on things that dazzles the brain' --Thomas Pynchon

'Impossibly imaginative' --Vanity Fair

'One of the bravest writers in America.' --Chicago Tribune

'whimsical, absurdist' --Billy Heller, New York Post --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Product Description

Tom Robbins' first fiction in five years (and perhaps his most audacious ever), B Is for Beer explores various aspects of beer culture - ancient, modern, and otherworldly; brutal, infantile and divine - and dramatizes the surprising things that happen when the life of a feisty nursery school kid named Gracie Perkel intersects with each. Billed by Robbins as `the first children's book about beer,' this inspired work taps into the barrel of life's existential mysteries and is truly meant to sit proudly with his other novels in grown-up literature sections.

Huge disappointment 8 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover
I am a massive Tom Robbins fan! Jitterbug, Skinny legs and Even cowgirls get the blues are among my favourite books that I've ever read. That is to say I had high expectations for this book. I'm left thinking that I must have missed the point but I really don't think I did. The only good thing was that it was very short. Please don't let this put you off reading another one of his books as they are fabulous-just don't bother with this one. And sorry Tom if you ever read this!

Stale Beer 31 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover
If this had been the first of Tom Robbins books i had read it would have been the last. I felt ripped off. I have read all his novels to date and eagerly awaited this one. Think his imagination has deserted him.I can recommend all his previous ones - but this.... forget it!

Why Tom, why? 26 Jun 2009
Format:Hardcover
Oh Mr Robbins, Seattle's own female diety worshipping closet lesbian; inventor of some of the finest characters to grace the pages of literature, from Switters the walking (pun intended) contradiction to the philosophising tin of beans; Oh Tom Robbins, spinner of tales of madness, enlightenment and bizarre magical poetry; pensmith extrodinaire, mushroom addled genius - why the hell did you bother to write this book?

Get back on the pad and let's not have anymore tales about 8 year old girls and beer fairies. Please.
