From the Back Cover

BB King is one of the greatest blues guitarists of the last century. With his faithful Lucille guitar, eighteen times GrammyR Award winner BB King has entertained numerous generations with his unique blues style that became a cornerstone for rock music. From the mid-fifties he averaged a colossal 300 gigs a year only slowing down when he turned 70 in 1995, reducing his performing schedule to a modest 200 gigs a year.

In 1974 BB King was invited to take part in a 3-day festival in celebration of black sports and entertainment in Kinshasa Zaire. The concert was part of the infamous Rumble in the Jungle title fight between the reigning champion George Foreman and Muhammad Ali. His phenomenal performance to an audience of 80,000 people was shot in 35mm on six cameras by director Leon Gast (who won an Academy Award for When We Were Kings.)

Absolutely essential for you, dear discerning viewer.

Performance: Five Stars! 49 year-old BB in his prime.

Sound and Picture quality:- Five Stars! (especially bearing in mind the age of the material)

Direction (by Leon Gast):- Five Stars! This film is unusually well made. The camera work, angles and close-ups - really quite outstanding -you get a wonderful sense of the space on the stage with Mr King -and the tremendous atmosphere of this historic event.

I recommend this film very much -it is a unique document of this fine artist at his best.
