I cant recommend this book, aside from the poorly described walks(so badly that one wonders if the author had even visited the Azores), it includes inaccurately drawn routes (one map shows a walk going down a 400 metre cliff) and mis-titled photographs(see Sao Jorge section), stay well away. Do go to the Azores though they are incredible.

Good companion for self guided hiking trip29 April 2013
- Published on Amazon.com
I bought this guide instead of paying a tour company for self-guided hiking and travel arrangements, for a one week trip to San Miguel.
Pros- good maps and trail descriptions
Cons - turned out I didn't really need to buy a guide at all. There is a great hiking website for the azores with brochures and up to date info you can print out yourself ahead of time, which turned out to be super useful since when I traveled 3/4 of the island trails were closed due to rain damage.
