Review

'This is the best book of embarrassing and strange photos of people who look like my family that I have ever seen.' (Judd Apatow (Superbad, Knocked Up, and 40 Year Old Virgin) )

'I wept with laughter fourteen times while reading this book and snorted aloud twice. I dare you to find a higher weep/snort ratio in any other publication.' (Karen McCullah Lutz, screenwriter of Legally Blonde and The Ugly Truth )

'Anything that both makes me laugh and think my family isn't so embarrassing deserves to be a book.' (Joel Stein, Time magazine columnist )

'The most remarkable thing here is that people are willing to share such indignity with the world, but we're glad that they have because it's internet gold.' (The Guardian )

'This is genius!' (Graham Norton )

'Being a test tube baby doesn't seem such a bad idea after looking at these folks. I laughed till it hurt. To paraphrase Tolstoy... every family is freaky in its own way.' (David Byrne )

I made the mistake of flicking through this book at a dinner party with colleagues when this had been given as a secret Santa - I then corpsed throughout the rest of the meal, couldn't resist having another sneaky glance and completely lost it in the giggles - I totally relate to the poses, it's only afterwards when someone else reviews them that they are shown up as being so bizarre - essential viewing! Pets version is not so funny although has a couple of gems

Hilarious! 29 Aug 2011

I found this book really funny, lots of 'laugh out loud' photos. Some of the anecdotes are really good too - a good coffee table book for a chuckle!

Wasn't sure what this book was all about until I ventured into the first few pages. It not only describes the strange family culture of our American cousins and the terrible fashion shock that was the 1970's but the awkwardness we have all experienced at least once in our lifetime through posed family photos. There's some real gems in here, buy it - at worst it will make you smile, at best you will be laughing for days.
