Product Description

Product Description

This is a wide-ranging book about the relationship between God and contemporary science and culture. This leads into a consideration of how we should respond as Christians to a number of controversial and contemporary issues. The themes are similar to those in her previous book A Big-Enough God, which was very successful, but this is presented accessibly for those with no theological training.

About the Author

Sara Maitland is a well-known novelist, writer and feminist. Her religious books include A Big-Enough God, Angel and Me and Virtuous Magic. Whilst she can be quite radical, theologically she is quite conservative. Always original, her writing style can be quite exhilarating. She lives near Darlington, Co. Durham.

An insighful book 18 Feb 2003
By A Customer
I came to this book as someone interested in religion, and particularly women's spirituality and thinking. Maitland writes with intelligence and a giving friendly tone, offering personal insights into faith and how she feels God has a place as creator of the universe. Perhaps opening up more questions rather than offering answers, this book is an intriguing and easy-enough read. I would like to have known more about Maitland's own personal beliefs, and especially as a woman, but perhaps this is not what the book is about - but in some ways I would have liked the obvious Christian bias to come through and for the author to truly speak from the heart about a direct and personal relationship with the God she calls awesome. Would reccommend to anyone interested in spirituality, theology, etc..
