We've had to renew this book three times from our library for my vehicle obsessed 3 yr old - he just LOVES it. As with some of the other reviwers I was not totally taken by the book to start with, but there is obviously an appeal to the toddler/pre-schooler with the subject matter and the simple, bold and colourful illustrations coupled with the very clever use of language. My 3 yr old can, as they do, recite the entire book (mind you given the nuber of readings so can his parents!) and the inventive use of sounds is certainly a welcome change from brum brum goes the truck...

On first read I wasn't bowled over by this book as it seemed a little repetitive, but it has really grown on me over the many re-reads that my 2 year old has demanded. It is unusual for a children's book in using a non-rhyming, but never the less 'poetic' style of writing that relishes language and sound. I think this is part of what keeps the interest over many reads, as opposed to a more conventional rhyming pattern. At the same time the repetition of certain phrases makes it easy for a young child to remember and repeat. The subject matter of transport is what initially attracted my train-mad son, but again there are some unusual departures from the norm; not just cars, buses and trains but cable cars, hot air balloons and ferry boats.

The illustrations are bold and colourful but with lots of detail to talk about.

In my 22 month old daughter's top three currently... but my god it drives me up the wall. On the one hand I find it repetitive and annoying, but on the other, I marvel at how she picks up the words and REALLY enjoys it! Grrr! Having said that I'm glad I got this - it totally complements the others in this series (which don't grate quite so much as this one!)

My grandson saw this listed at the back of a library book and went on about it so much that I had to buy it. But when it arrived he was disappointed as, despite the title, there is very little about trains in it. He keeps asking for 'more trains, more trains' but there are no more after page 1, so I have resorted to looking for other train books.

My son loves these books. They're great for read, read, reading. He got 'Dig, Dig, Digging' for his first birthday and we bought the rest of the series soon after. Still loving them nearly two years later. 'Choo, Choo, Clickity-Clack' a particular favourite of mine and thanks to 'Zoom Rocket, Zoom' I now know what goes on up in space.

I bought this after my 2 year old son fell in love with '999 Emergency' in this range. Clikety Clack has taken over as the favourite and we have to read it every night. It is bright colorful, and has all types of vehicles in it, the drawings are great. Definitley a favourite in our house. My 4 year old daughter loves it too.

This was the last book in the series that we bought. My three year old loved 'Dig dig digging'and 'Emergancy'
The simple rhymes are easy for him to remember and he enjoys saying them along as we read togther.
The pictures are bright and simple and its easy to also talk about the pictures with them as you read.

My 19 month old son absolutely loves this book, it makes great reading. We have been reading this since he was a year old and its one that he goes back to time and time again. The pictures are bright and colourful which hold his span of attention. A good book all around! We also have 'Dig Dig Digging' which is another one of his favourites.
