5.0 out of 5 stars breath taking classic of indian cinema 19 Jun 2002
Format:VHS Tape
This classic indian movie was released in many languages in countries all over the world years before I was born. I grew up with the songs from the soundtrack of this movie and it wasn't until years later that I finally got to see this movie. It is a difficult to find film as not many people stock it.
The on-screen chemistry between legends Nargis and Raj Kapoor (who were famously rumoured to have a secret forbidden real-life love affair) is magical and will make you want to watch the movie over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The evergreen fable - Awara 27 Jun 2002
By S. Butt
Format:VHS Tape
This movie created great waves in its era. Translated into numerous languages, including - Russian,it depicts the tale of a young man described in hindi as 'awara' (vagabond).

A fable for the audience - it illustrates the importance of non-assumption of the socioeconomic differences between people. The father (Prithviraj Kapoor)and son (Raj Kapoor - actual father and son!)meet after numerous years in the courts of law. The son before the father, as a petty criminal.

The father has always maintained, the ideology "like father, like son" - but what happened here - what caused the son to become a lying thief?

Telling you would ruin the movie. A beautiful piece of hindi cinema, with romantic evergreen, poetic songs. Acting which people still quote as superbity. A masterpiece of it's time!
