Book Description

John Light makes children want to read. Supported by his own endearingly naive illustrations, these light-hearted observations of family life are true, witty, unexpected and fun to share, and expressed in language which is both simple and natural. Katherine, Mark, and Roger spend a fun-filled day at the beach with their parents.

More About the Author

"I was born in London in a lull between air raids, learned to love reading at Elm Park County Primary School and chemistry at Newport Grammar School in Essex, graduated from the University of Durham with a lucky First in Chemistry and obtained my doctorate and met my wife there. I worked as a chemist in Zurich, Bristol and Amersham before joining the chemistry department at Queen Mary College, University of London in 1972.
Having launched three children on the world, my wife and I settled in Berwick-upon-Tweed, England's most northerly town, where we live as happily as the cosmos allows.
I have been writing for most of my life. As well as seven novels and several poetry collections (the exact number depends on how you count them!) many of my short stories, poems, articles, drawings and paintings have been published, and more than a dozen books for children. I compiled and published Light's List of Literary Magazines, for over twenty years. Details of all these and more are at www.photonpress.co.uk ."

By Papadon
Format:Paperback
the story is poor like the images; Spiagga should be spelled "Spiaggia".

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't make any sense of it! 7 July 2010
Format:Paperback
Not impressed with this at all - cannot make sense of what is going on in the story, no translation at all. Oh, one more thing , the illustrations are ridiculous!
