About the Author
Sam Kauffmann is a professor at Boston University's College of Communication, where he teaches digital editing and film production. He is an award-winning video and filmmaker with numerous credits as a cinematographer and editor. His work has aired on network and local television stations throughout America. Included among his credits are Show Your Love, Fire: Countdown to Disaster, Killing Time, Surviving the Family, and South Africa: Building Democracy, about six South Africans who are helping to build a new nation from the rubble of apartheid.

The best edition yet! Well worth the wait
It tackles the basics and the more advanced aspects of editing with clarity.
Hits the spot between the novice and the intermediate and impatient improver.
Comes with decent footage on the accompanying DVD and is much more up to date with MC software based systems
Good section on tapeless workflow.
Only one very small nag, as much attention to the Sony EX series as to the Panasonic would have been great as the former is now mainstream

I've been in many avid courses and this book resume everything I learned... it's a must have. If you are starting with avid.. buy this book beacuse it's all you need to know to edit a video without problems.. from begining to the end. Not a lot of advance techniques but a lot of tips for intermediate users. It's based in screen captures of media composer.

He estado en muchos cursos de Avid y este libro resume casi todo lo aprendido. Creo que es un manual que hay que tener en la estanteria para consultarlo en cualquier ocasión. Si estas empezando con avid, este libro te enseñará de principio a fin para hacer una edición sencilla, con su rótulo y los niveles de audio correctos. No es avanzado pero tiene algunos truco muy interesantes para gente con un nivel intermedio.
Si ya sabes avid.. te servirá para repasar cosas esenciales. Basado en capturas de pantalla del Media Composer. Que lo disfrutes! ;)
