This trimmer cuts paper and photos very cleanly. Though most of the use it gets is with A4 sheets, the A3 size gives more working space and fulfils the requirement for occasional larger work.
I had bought a cheaper trimmer from a high street store but the cut was not really clean and since this was needed for my daughters photographic and art A level work a ragged edge was not good enough. This A3 Avery trimmer cost more but is in a different league - a much better trimmer. It will even cleanly cut photographs with double sided tape attached (backing paper on!), which is a great timesaver.
I was nearly put off by a previous reviewer's comments about screws catching, but the trimmer we received has the screws well recessed so this has not been any issue at all.
A good trimmer - recommended.

This trimmer is well built except for one area.
The paper to be cut is held between an upper plastic strip and a lower metal strip. I found the four screws that held the lower metal strip to the cutting board protruded slightly above the metal strip. This resulted in the paper catching as you tried to slide it in for cutting.
This happened so often as to be impractical if you had several pages to cut as great care was needed to position the paper. I also purchased this trimmer for trimming photographs and was concerned that the protruding screws would scratch the back of the photo paper. Fortunately Amazon's excellent returns service meant I could get a refund.
The actual cutting action was very clean so it is unfortunate that this product is hampered by such a fault.

Avery A3 Office Trimmer
So far, so good. We do not use it that often, but when we do we get a good clean cut which is what we require and it cuts through a laminated piece of paper with no problem.

Big Improvement on Basic Trimmer
I had a cheapo A3 trimmer (about £12 many years ago), which was a tad fiddly but adequate. Now the children are doing more artwork the old trimmer gave up. Read more
