Majid Fakhry does some excellent work here on this book. He explains the life story, the education of Averroes or who we shall call by his untranslated Muslim name Ibn Rushd. Let we forget the influence of the Muslim scholarship on Europe his works were adopted in Christan Europe and taken on.

He wrote many works including a short commentary on Aristoles text Organon. This is really worth buying and reading several times.

Great book if you like philosophy 14 Dec. 2012

The book is deep and dense, but gives an excellent review of this great thinker. The original writing of Averroes is much more dense, so this is a good way to work into the original writings.
