It's sobering to think that this album is 24 years only, for those who can remember it when it first came out. Listening to it afresh, it is, simply, a stunning album. Never has blue eyed soul sounded so good. There are nothing but outstanding tracks on "The White Album" although "You Got It" is my personal favourite. If there have ever been a better pair of soul vocalists than Alan Gorrie and Hamish Stuart, then let me know!!

There is a pity, though, and that is that AWB never got close to the quality of this album again, and it remains - their first release - the pinnacle of the output

I know I am being hyperbolic, but it is that sort of an album - one to remind your friends of because actually everyone of a certain age will remember "Pick up the Pieces" - with fondness, I hope

This is one of the all time great albums - and it is timeless - in fact I appreciate it even more now then when I was a teenager. But this version has the TWO BONUS tracks How Sweet Can You Get & McEwans Export - that were part of the original album rejected by MCA - just makes this album a brilliant compliation. Just to correct a previous reviewer - this is AWB's second album as there first was SHOW YOUR HAND(great album too). Sony/BMG have done a good job on the recording but their live Person to Person version is awesome - check it out.

The Sony/BMG version is one of the best digital recordings I've ever heard - check out Person ... 29 July 2014

Brillant album which is an awesome timeless classic and has the TWO EXTRA tracks left off the original album by MCA - they are cool tracks which now make this an exceptional package.
The Sony/BMG version is a good recording but their live Person To Person version is just amazing.
