Review

'This funny and explicit tale is pure filth!' Maxim 'Morally irredeemable yet completely unputdownable' Arena 'This is a bit SCARY! It's like someone's writing a diary of your every waking moment' Daily Sport 'It's a controversial bestseller that's sparked a youtube frenzy' Knave 'WARNING: do not let your girlfriend read this!actually let her read it. The duchess might learn a thing or two' Zoo 'I can't figure out if this book is a heartfelt dispatch from the front line in the battle of the sexes or a brilliant send-up of the way the male point of view has been misrepresented by militant feminists. I suspect both' Toby Young 'It's so primal, so dangerous, it might be the most ingenious book i've ever read' Josh Kilmer-Purcell 'The most brilliant author of the twenty-first century. But enough about me, buy Chad's book. It's a blueprint of how the mind -- and penis-of the typical American male works' Maddox 'Genius' Zoo

4.0 out of 5 stars Oddly Entertaining, 4 Aug 2007
By G. Stancer "jiko_konrei" (Just left of Nowhere) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This was enlightning to me because my personality is nothing like this, so it was interesting to read an account of another males viewpoint. I'm not sure just how honest this book is supposed to be, or how much of it is based on real life events, which I imagine to be the bare bones structure. I couldn't help thinking that the author has taken his masculine personality traits and exaggerated them ten fold to make it more shocking. Or maybe I'm just not as sex-mad as he is. Although for a twenty eight year old man who masturbates three or four times a day, plays computer games, drinks loads of beer and eats nothing but pizzas and baguettes, he gets a LOT of attention from women. Maybe I should start following his example.
However, it is written in a clear and readable manner and holds your attention throughout, even if that is because your are disgusted with his attitude. On a negative aspect, it is obviously based in America and features annoying American language and past-times, which grates after about four chapters. But it does feature a nice little ending which was the most honest thing written in the book.
( NB: I am male by the way, just in case you were wondering. )

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read!, 27 Aug 2007

This is a great read for blokes because they will laugh in recognition as to the way our minds actually work. This is a great read for girls who are looking to understand the male psyche. Forget what Cosmo tells you, this is the real deal. There are a few hilarious set pieces (our unnamed (anti) hero driving his prospective mother-in-law and hateful girlfriend back from a particularly uncomfortable lunch, the "incognito" sex at a party). It's quite episodic in nature and this makes it an easy read. I read it in Borders in two 2-hour sessions (I've got a bit of time on my hands at the moment). Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars I don't think i was supposed to like this ..., 3 Jun 2009

...particularly because the book is not very nice to women but I have to say I loved it. It made me laugh out loud. The book's main character is shallow, obsessed with sex and generally quite disillusioned but i like how the book flows. It reads like a diary detailing the main character's thoughts towards his parents, his girlfriend and women in general. I have to say I really hope men don't think really think like this because if they do then there is definitely no hope for me. I'd definitely describe reading this book as a guilty pleasure.
