Toshinden 4 is a great fighting game which also has traces of a good role playing game mixed in with it. There's a multitude of characters with different attributes and skills, so any player can use a fighter that reflects on the players own personality and fighting style. In all there are 8 characters with a further 4 secret characters that you win by beating the games hardest parts. If you do earn the secret characters though they are so powerful the game becomes much easier to play!! Also each character has unique moves so there are at least 250 moves in the game. There are 8 levels at first, one for each fighter but as you earn secret characters you also earn other levels. The levels are what make Toshinden such a challenging game because some levels have no edges or the floor falls away making it easier for you to be beaten, you can also defeat your opponents in this manner as well though. There are a lot of modes in Toshinden, the most exciting being Goods Mode. You have to complete Story Mode to gain this option but once you earn it it's worth it. In Goods Mode you are put up against computer opponents, to make things harder for you, you have a handicap. If you manage to win though you receive items for the character you were playing as, you may win extra costumes and extra weapons. One other mode is the Mini Game Mode, to access the different mini games you must play the game for a set number of hours. The mini games are simple and take parts of other games and add Toshinden characters and backgrounds. The graphics are colourful and add depth to the game, the character animations are very realistic and the backgrounds add a new challenge to the game. At first Toshinden may be difficult but if you stick to it, it becomes an involving game that will have you glued to your TV for hours on end. A brilliant game!!
