Battle Arena Toshinden series will always hold a special place in my heart - the first game was the first videogame I ever played (courtesy of the demo1 disk that came with my ps1), and I would rent it out about 5-6 times from Blockbuster following this.
A few years ago, I happened to re-discover the series by finding one of these in a bargain bin, which prompted me to get all of the games, including this one.
While the game definetly reached a creative peak at 3 (at least for me, it was the most fulfilled and enjoyable game) the developers really took a step back with Toshinden 4. The graphics were really shaky even for the time, the gameplay was slow and a little "over the top" with specials and what not.
That said, I happened to get a number of hours of enjoyment out of this game, playing the main game - and unlocking characters I recognised, playing some of the mini-games, and generally just messing about. The game could have been so much better, but it's solid and if you can pick it up cheap (and especially if you're a fan of the series) it can be a lot of fun.

Aww. I feel sorry for this game :/ It's been seriously ripped to shreds. I won't deny it though, the graphics are poor and the fighting is pretty cack too.
Although!, if you're a fellow gamer that's interested in concept art and game extras/bonuses (like me ;D) then you'll appreciate this. It has a variety of mini games which are quite fun, and loaaads of character sketches and scrapped ideas.

- If you're feeling in a happy random mood with no overly high expectations, buy this game. ;)

Oh Gawd, the playstation hits new lows in quite how bad it's games can be. I have never ever played a game quite as bad as this. The graphics are dreadful, the gameplay is just dire and you lose all intrest after about...ooh...30 seconds. I'm only giving it one star because Amazon won't let me go lower. I'm going to stop now otherwsie I'll start getting angry. Whoever said that video games don't induce you to violence obviously has never played this game. They'd want to shoot the programmers
