Product Description

As the last autumn leaves slowly peel away from the trees, a mysterious airborne virus ravages the planet, and within a few hours billions die. Victims suffer horrific deaths as their internal organs liquefy, and whole towns expire within minutes. Soon cities become infested breeding grounds for the new apocalyptic virus. By the end of the first day there are only a handful of survivors.

A small group of ordinary strangers are soon forced to work together to stay alive. The survivors are lead by Michael (Dexter Fletcher Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Doom) a lonely soft ware consultant, and Carl (Dickon Tolson Peak Practice, Eastenders) an ill-tempered mechanic. When Michael and the survivors escape from the infested city to an isolated country house, they discover the real horror has only begun!

When the dead start to gruesomely reanimate the group have naive hopes that the walkers, or the meat suites, would decompose and simply fall apart but they discover the longer the reanimated corpses are alive the more they learn, the cleverer they get, the more aggressive and treacherous they become the more they became killing machines.

When Phillip Evans (David Carradine Kill Bill, Kung Fu) is discovered as a lone survivor in the lifeless city, a new hope emerges, but nothing is as it seems in a world turned upside down, and hope soon turns into terror. In order to endure the winter each survivor must find the strength within themselves to fight their personal demons and find the courage to combat a war against the vicious dead.

What follows is a shockingly clever adventure of survival, in a thrilling desolate world. This Autumn, the darkness will come!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice. 14 Jun 2010

I've read the books and found them very enjoyable.
So is the film.
The budget was low but I think that the director did a pretty good job.
The story is convincing, there's an oppressing anguish that doesn't leave you till the end and that's how an horror movie should be.
I'm not convinced about two things though: first I don't get the role of D. Carradine, not only of the actor but more precisely of the character, it doesn't make very much sense and second the end is a little bit too rushed.
Otherwise I would have rated it 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars True to Moody's classic story 4 May 2010
Format:DVD
I was delighted at how faithful this movie is to the book written by David Moody, also the author of Hater. Having seen early trailers which didn't look very good I had low expectations. The cast is made up of no frills actors who do a very able job; Dexter Fletcher really is a superb actor (you may remember him from Press Gang) and plays his character with sincerity. This is a very typical zombie story which follows a group of survivors - nothing new there, I know - but Autumn is not gung-ho like many of its peers. It is not full of macho, zombie slaying gore but is more of a human survival tale - I guess it's best described as a zombie drama.

O.K So last year I heard of a zombie film staring dexter fletcher (press pack, hotel babylon and games master)called Autmn!, I watched the trailer and thought.... OH YES..AWSOME!, As an avid zombie fan with a huge collection I get excited at the slightest sign of life in a zombie movie- LOL (la horde and a.d are currently tickeling my cheeks, cant wait for these!I just watched rec 2 which was fantastic) I managed to finaly watch this movie last month... The openining sequence was great, no infact it was amazing! for no known reason people start bleeding and dying, there are scenes of class rooms full of dead, streets with burning cars and corpse on the floor, fansticaly shot (reminded me of the steets in 28 days later a bit-which was an amazing film!) Of course there have to be some survivors or the film would be pointless(wouldn't it?), The survivours are made up of an ugly bunch with as much personality as the cast of neopoleon dynamite, they all grouped togeather in some sort of social centre and chat about what they should do next, do they stay inside and moan or do they go out side (and moan), the people argue and disagree a lot and then the dead out side start to get up and start walking around and from this point the film could have been great. The corpses are harmless to start with, they have no sences to notice humans, they just walk in one direction and when they encounter a wall they turn around and walk the other way (exept windows they keep walking into them),A group of survivours decide to leave in search of food and a new home, It was amazing seeing humans walking amoung the dead without fear of being eaten, they could turn and touch the zombies and this was fantastic to watch. Dexter fletcher leads a group to a remote country cottage with the intent of living out of the way of walking rotting corpses (oh yes they are dead and still rott), 3 people are happy with this plan but the rest decide to go find a mansion and live it up as the world is theirs for the taking. Over time zombies start mounting up in the country and placid to start with they seem to start responding to sound starting with an engine on a car as the group loot stores for food and later a generator used to power the country house, which eventuarly turns them aggressive (the people in the mansion get eatin for pumping out music-serves them right!) and from this point the film goes down hill, The film started to drag, became a bit trippy in parts and lost its way, they might as well ended the film with dexter fletcher waking up and it all being a dream as they had no idea how to end it- and so finished it with the hero sacrifice so dexter and his new mrs get in the car and leave the zombie infested cottage to look for a new home! Autumn is in no way a rubbish film and could have been one of the best zombie movies ever, dispite having a low budget at times it was mesmurising and beautiful to watch, it was even scripted well at the start but if if I didnt know any better I would swear it was directed by 2 different people as the first 3 quarters were some of the best viewing i have witnessed but from the point of a dog being eaten it feels like a different film, Dont get me wrong I live for blood gore and the sound of brains being eaten but I felt unsatsfied at the end of this film, it reminded me of a big mac, great to look at, tastes quite nice but never quite hits the spot! Still I would recomend seeing this film for die hard zombie fans waiting for that reanimated groaning forward armed gore fix... but a word of advice-get it when it goes cheap, dead meat (quite good british zomromp), 28 days later (classic), pontypool (origional), the dead outside (brit flick) and survival of the dead (romero)will keep you satisfied till then or if you wanna check out somthing different "dead girl" is pretty fantastic! as given how disapointing Autmn ended im sure the price will drop in no time and then it would be worth wasting your hard earned pocket money on a copy. Cheers for reading!

What a load of rubbish. The picture is bad, sound is bad, and lighting (when in dark) is awful. Looks like a good film from the cover of the dvd but it really isn't. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, but ruined by poor attempts at clever camara angles.
A good plot with some novel ideas, ruined by poor camara angles. This film had so much potential but ended up looking like an art student's end of year project.
