If you agree with the BBC that Dr Who is too expensive to make to the quality they want, watch this & have your mind changed. Made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, you only get the full value if you've watched the original Jon Pertwee. So buy them as well THEN watch this! It's worth it!

The Spin-offs are now as good as the Original series,

Auton is produced by a group of Dr. Who fans who have become professional video producers.Auton features UNIT, the Nestenes and Autons from BBCTVs Dr. Who. The drama is set soley in a warehouse, and without giving too much plot away, is focused on a mysterious character 'Lockwood' who works for UNIT and is investigating 'strange happenings' at a UNIT research lab. This drama has as good, if not better production values as its predecessor (Dr. Who), and a tight script, and a real sense of terror and suspense. It keeps your attention throughout, which is richly rewarded in the end. It is the first in a trilogy of of videos, and is well worth investing in. It also has 'the making of' at the videos conclusion, which is very revealing, and shows just what a labour of love the project really was. It is also surprising to realise how 'broadcastable' the drama is on such a 'shoestring' budget. If you like Dr. Who, Sci-fi or just a good thriller...this is definatley for you, you will not be disappointed - BUY IT

Auton proves that a huge budget isn't necessary for a good film. It has a great script, lots of tension, and is very well acted. Plainly, from the 'Making Of' clip which follows, they enjoyed working on it and this enthusiasm shows in the film. Definately the best of the Doctor Who spin-offs I've seen so far and wouldn't look out of place among the originals.
