Autogenic Training: Effective Holistic Way to Better HealthI found this book very helpful. It was difficult to practise the exercises as slowly as advised - so I'm afraid I worked through them rather quickly. However, I find the complete exercise very relaxing and I hope it will help with some of my health problems - early days yet!

Next best thing to actual teacher 27 Nov. 2012

I love this book. I tried learning AT from other books but never quite succeeded till I found out what I was doing wrong after reading this book. I now practice AT on a daily basis and I am able to enter the AT state quickly and easily after about three months of working with this book. The author covers all the important details a person needs to know including how to deal with the release of repressed emotions. Some of the details are boring but those details are crucial in learning AT. It is very important to take you time in learning each step. Advanced AT techniques like the space exercise and autogenic meditation are also included.

Incredible information 14 Sept. 2013

I first heard of this book in 2000 on the recommendation of PhotoReading course founder Dr. Paul Scheele. I found a copy of it at the public library in Toronto (which has since been stolen, unfortunately). This is hands down the best book i have ever read for meditation.

At the time i was also learning to record using Steinberg Cubase and after taking notes from this book i recorded myself reading the different variations of the Space Exercise and Autogenic Training protocols. I had to keep punching in and out because i kept going into deep trances and they were visible on the recordings! Once i recorded a workable version of the AT exercises i would run the recording and do my AT exercises along with the recordings. It helped a lot because i've always been the nervous type but after a year of doing these exercises many said i was a very mellow type.

I got away from this book until around a month ago when something told me to go looking for it again. I saw it online for Kindle and it was a no-brainer. Bought it, reread it, saw many things in it that i had never seen before, and paid a lot closer attention to the Offloading Exercises which i think are very important for getting rid of unknown phobias and removing deep anchors.

This book is no substitute for a live AT instructor but it is far far better than any other book on AT i have come across; it is way more comprehensive than any other AT manual i've seen to date.

I wish Dr.Kermani would revisit this book and create a DVD set of the exercises herein, as an introduction to Autogenic Training.

I pick and vet my books carefully before i buy them which is why many of my reviews have 5 stars. I go through hundreds of books a year and maybe give a rating to a dozen of the best. This book will be no different; i've lived with it on and off for over 10 years. Every time i revisit and practice what is within it i learn something new about myself, reality, and life.

5 stars.
Sloppy and not structured 16 Feb. 2014

Most of the Autogenic Training books are medical books with a solid structure and a specific program. This one is a confused set of various thoughts about life and psychology that would put a beginner on the wrong path and an expert on the run.
