Product Description
On a dull morning in September, at her Scottish castle Balmoral, The Queen was packing a suitcase. She had never done this for herself before, and after negotiating with the luggage store-room (which she had never visited before) she felt too much attention would be drawn to her if she was seen dragging a heavy suitcase down to her private sitting room. So begins this hilarious novel about Her Majesty. After another scandalous kiss-and-tell story is unveiled involving Prince Harry the Queen escapes to the Caribbean where a whole world of comical misunderstandings awaits.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing really happens, 19 Feb 2008
By Mrs. S. Payne (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have never read any books by this author before but I thought that this storyline sounded interesting and a bit different. After reading previous reviews on this page I was quite intrigued by the plot. I have to say that I was hugely disappointed. I felt that the story started out quiet strong and I believed it would carry on in that way but it didn't. The Queen was portrayed as a forgetful old woman who knows nothing about real life and even manages to loose her passport and tickets. The other characters are weak and very unbelievable and I didn't find them amusing. I would give this one a miss.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't see the point, 7 Feb 2008
By Ms. K. Frank (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Unlike the other reviewers on these pages, I was hugely disappointed by "The Autobiography of the Queen". I had hoped for a similar style and story like the cheekily entertaining Townsend, but this seemed lifeless and most certainly not funny. Why should the Queen walk around barefoot on a tropical island, be utterly careless in losing her passport, her money and her jewellery, serve drinks behind the bar to earn her keep - is this a criticism of the monarchy? A lovingly doddery portrayal of the Sovereign? Even though she is an old lady now she certainly has her wits about her and would never sink this low! Only fit for the paper recycling bin!

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea for a book, but what a disappointment, 5 May 2009
By Terence Cushing (Chipstead UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a great idea for a book, but what a disappointment.

It starts well, but after the first two chapters it really goes no where. I say chapters, but they are just a couple of pages long. It is poorly written using far too many word to a sentence making it difficult to read. So much more could have been made of this idea by another author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Royal treat
Extremely entertaining -- the best of the royal comedies so far. More entertaining than Bennett and infinitely better than Townsend. The perfect stocking filler.
