So much more than a command refference 23 Dec 2010
By Jack Terry - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I picked up the book to find out what's new in 2011 but was pleasantly surprised to find not just that but really great insights about how and when to use the overwhelming number of commands and features of AutoCAD.

This book is unique because she goes out of her way to tell you what the stuff is good for in the process of describing the mechanics of how to do it. In my case I'd been struggling to understand the use of Named Plot Styles and - bingo - the light came on from a single sentence you can find on Pg 516 at the end of the paragraph under the heading "Named Plot Styles" near the top of the page.

While Named Plot Styles probably aren't for everyone they solve a particular problem I have in my practice and that is as an Electrical Engineer I am more often than not working over another Engineers' or Architects' drawing which I typically screen to about 40%. Try that with .ctbs' when trying to screen a base drawing that may have hundreds of layers and almost everything in it is a multi level block of some kind!

I have also enjoyed her many other insights throughout the rest of the book - it's SO MUCH more than a command reference - but it's that to.

Best AutoCAD Book 28 July 2010
By Loves to Read - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Ellen has done it again. Whether you are new to AutoCAD or a seasoned CAD Manager this book hits it all. I had immediate use for this book as reference manual. Far more complete than the online AutoCAD help this book goes into the mechanics and the processes of using AutoCAD. When I need to chase down a detail, there it is. When I need a go to source for new employees, I can direct them to the AutoCAD 2011 Bible. It has proven tits value for those who want to learn AutoCAD on their own and as the go to place for encyclopedic AutoCAD facts. If AutoCAD can do it, the Bible shows how. I met Lynn Allen last year and she commented that she has written 5 books on AutoCAD "and if you stacked them all up, they wouldn't be as thick as the AutoCAD Bible!". Lynn is right, Ellen Finkelstein covers it all and does it in a straight forward fashion that invites new learners without boring AutoCAD veterans. Thank you Ellen. I count on the AutoCAD Bible everyday, and I highly recommend this book as the best AutoCAD book ever written.

Fantastic 26 Mar 2011
By Brian Benton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The AutoCAD 2011 & AutoCAD LT 2011 Bible is quite possibly the best AutoCAD Reference book available. It can be used by beginners or advanced users. It covers every command, setting, and topic. The index makes it easy to find what you need making this an excellent resource for CAD Managers or instructors.

The examples and instructions are thorough and precise. Ellen has done a fantastic job keeping this title up to date with every release. If you want to learn AutoCAD or need a reference manual this is the book to get. I recommend it as a must have.
