Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
At 48 yoa i have taken on a part time college course for autocad. You can download autocad for free to practice on and this book is the perfect companion to use as reference, as well as learning additional tricks that are not taught on the course. The book is informatative and easy to use just what a beginner needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the not so dumb aswell 26 April 2013

Must be the 5th or 6th Dummies book I have bought, and the standard is still very high. A difficult subject broken down into manageable bites. Highly recommended

4.0 out of 5 stars AutoCAD 2011 for Dummies review 9 July 2011
Format:Paperback
The information is quite easy to follow.
There are deliberate mistakes, like rectangle co-ordinates that are not the correct rectangle co-ordinates, in "base plate". You need to work out the co-ordinates for yourself.
I paid £[] for this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Better off watching YouTube and/or taking video instruction 26 May 2012
By K. Benner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
For an Autocad user such as myself who wanted to get to know the program better; this was a dud. This looks like a doctorial thesis someone wrote who didn't have the license to show the basic menus.

YouTube is a much better place to pick up on the menus; how to use them; and if you're really serious there are programs you can subscribe to that allows you to learn the programs on your own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic coverage 19 May 2011
By M. Rooney - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book provides the basic coverage of AutoCAD 2011. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad. There are a lot of new features in the 2011 version and this book covers the bulk of them. Good sense of humor makes the readking light. Needs more examples, but all included examples are complete. Little short on the use of the ribbon, but AutoCAD is still driven by the command line and the author shows that the command line is still and essential piece of AutoCAD (author is not responsible for the failings of AutoCAD). For designing buildings, a comparison with Revit would be useful.

For the price, this is a great reference text.

5.0 out of 5 stars AutoCad 23 Nov 2010
By Danko - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Autocad for Dummies is exactly what I needed. I used Autocad years ago but needed both a refresher and where to find some of the functions. Autocad for Dummies made that very easy to find and get back up to speed.

The service from Amazon was very fast the book arrived within 2-3 days of the order, faster than promised.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not if you are a novice! 3 July 2010
By Donald J. Yurko Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I figured this book would help the novice since it was for Dummies! Not the case. It seems to be written for those who have used Autocad before. There are very specific items I wanted to understand and they are nowhere in the book. Kind of usless for dummies like me. Your best bet is to take a class on Autocad to understand the simple things you want to do before you buy this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars I am very pleased with my buy. 29 April 2013
