A short but valuable book,
By FILIP Marius "adna" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Autism and Play (Paperback)
Autism and play haven't been connected much, although the problem has been outlined since Lovaas' time.
This book has three great merits: 1) it offers a cognitive model for autism which goes beyond the mainstream understanding of this disorder. 2) it gives a short list of games and discusses the benefits of each - with applicability to other games. As a bonus: a development scale from the perspective of play. 3) it is short and written in a friendly style which makes it appealing to people without training in psychology or psychiatry. What this book is not: 1) a large collection of games. 2) a complete guide to design a play therapy. 3) a book for fun activities with your children (autistic or not). If you work with a child with autism, this is a valuable and much needed resource. 5 of 19 people found the following review helpful:
