Product Description

Product Description

Parents have been reporting a connection between autism and diet for decades, but for many years the science behind the connection was evasive. Today, we see a growing body of research to back up parental-reported evidence that certain foods and other environmental sources can affect the developing brains of some children, and trigger adverse behavioural episodes.Written by an autism expert who has witnessed in her own child the dramatic improvement that can be made through dietary intervention, this book offers an 'easily digestible' guide to the science behind the considerations; strategies for implementing a safe diet; a handy list of ingredients to be avoided; as well as a concise bank of essential resources and useful contacts. This book offers an accessibly concise guide to all aspects of dietary invention in children with autism, and is an ideal resource for parents, teachers and any other family member or caregiver who needs to know how to help implement a safe and healthy diet for an autistic child.

About the Author

Rosemary Kessick is former CEO of AiA (Allergy Induced Autism), a UK-based charity dedicated to identifying the underlying causes and biochemical effects of autistic spectrum disorders. She is also the mother of an adult son with autism and inflammatory bowel disease, whose condition has been dramatically improved with appropriate medical and dietary intervention.

this book was clear and concise throughout and saved our child an awful lot of needless stomach pains - we have made great inroads in her experience of life now she is not suffering with gastric problems all the time - the author is brilliant and very helpful
obviously different things work for different people but I fail to see how anyone reading this could come away with nothing at all!

Rosemary Kessick is THE font of knowledge when it comes to gastrointestinal complaints & diet & autism. For years she has helped thousands of parents to help their autistic children - I know, I am one of them and am forever indebted to her, for what she has done for my sons.

Brilliant book, easy to understand, written in plain english. Exactly what is needed to guide parents, carers and professionals through implementing diets for those on the autistic spectrum.
Only 'problem' is you will need to purchase several copies to leave with relations & school/nursery.

I haven't read the whole book but most of it and flicked through the advice given. I know what my autistic child should eat and that he has bowel problems and that this book makes sense, but trying to get him to eat what he should is a different matter. It's worth a read for the knowledge but not sure the methods are always practical.
