Two families, both wives died in unfortunate accidents, the widowers remarried glamorous, but cold or manipulative women.
Charismatic and successful son from one family gets engaged to beautiful, successful, but insecure daughter from other family. This starts a series of attacks from unbalanced people, a bride apparent (favored by father Rupert), sister of the Rupert's wife, and, even worse, the father himself. This culminates in the father (Rupert) pushing the bride-to-be in front of cars at a busy street only to rescue her himself at the last moment and dying in the attempt. OK writing, but not a tasteful story line.

Anything Margaret Way has written is good. I have some of her books from the 1970's and they were good, but her work got even better as time went on. Today's books can't be beat. Australia is the theme of all her books and her descriptions of the countryside make a visit to her country sound like an excellent vacation.
