I bought this book after my GP looked it up when I came to the surgery in response to physical pain. She prescribed a remedy form the index at the back. I didnt try it because I thought it was a waste of time. The nest time I went to see my GP, (STILL in pain), I confessed I hadnt taken the prescription. Because I was getting 'sick and tired of being sick and tired', I decided to give it a go. As usual I wait untill by back is againt the wall before I try something new! And 2 weeks later it had worked. The pain had reduced and has stayed away years later. I am back in full time work thanks to these remedies. (And other stuff) Although there appears to be a direct correation between taking the remedies and the reduction of pain, I cannot say exactly what contributed to my recovery, (I wasn't conducting clinical trial, -this is just my experience) but I am very grateful to this stuff , and decided to look into them in more detail afterwards. This is a great book. In my opinion they are an up to date version of the Bach Remedies. He has another new book out with new flower essences in it. It doesnt appear to be listed (yet) here, but I browsed through it in a health food shop and it looks good. I love these remedies. They are very current and address problems that I find very relevant. Great stuff. An excellent guide. I keep it as a reference. There is something here for everyone. I defy anyone to NOT see a remedy that would be useful to them in some way or another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amasing knowledge! 8 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
Being in the complementary therapy field, I have used different flower essences for years, and since they did work for me, I searched for a comprehensive book... I finally found Ian White's Books...
This "Australian Bush Flower Essences" book lists 50 different essences! It will take you through the history and purpose of flower essences, how they work, how to use and chose them, how to prepare and take them, will provide you with an index of illnesses and their treatment, and will even give you some affirmations to help you on your way to better health!

If you are interested in flower essences, then this book is a must have! So much research has gone into this gem!

Since it was written more essences are now available and a second book was published to complement this one. So you may want to add the amasing sequel "Australian Bush Flower Healing" to your collection!
I have both books and I use them regularly to find what essences my body needs at any one time to support me through life's challenges. A fantastic aid to personal well being and developement!

4.0 out of 5 stars Written with passion 13 April 2009
Format:Paperback
I came across Australian Bush Flower Essences entirely by chance when I started becoming interested in natural healing. I knew about Bach flower essences but had always found them a little "fuddy-duddy" (with apologies - I know they are good and effective for most people, but not for me) and I had been searching for something more "wild". I was not sure what that even meant until I read about Ian White and his quest to collect Australian Bush flowers in order to use their essence for healing. That is what I had been looking for! I ordered the book and was delighted with its easy to read and yet detailed descriptions. I especially loved the colour photographs, but was slightly irritated by the eccentric chapters on numerology and kinesiology - nothing against them, just did not think they belonged to the book per se. All in all a great reference book for anyone who is interested in flower essences and certainly a great credit to the author who has written this book with passion and knowledge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intoxicating flora 19 April 2009
Format:Paperback
I found this book pretty intoxicating - in a likely similar way to how Mr White found the flora of the Australian bush. He really celebrates his encounters with the flowers and managed to infect me with a desire to get closer to them myself if only i could get over the environmental cost of flying to the other side of the world. The book is so beautifully written and presented that i really gorged on it. But then came the troubles :

Somehow a sinister side unfolded as i explored the "remedial aspect" - an accusatory element. Suddenly i found that i had EVERYTHING wrong with me and found myself feeling trapped in some botanical nightmare that had me flinging myself into the English countryside to find an oak tree to cling to to ground myself. Then i came back inside and ordered a workbook for the Bach Flowers (glutton for punishment that i am). Hopefully the result will not then have me struggling to get out into my own back garden.
