The AS800CD is a great shredder to use at home and in a small office, the first thing to notice about the AS800CD is its attractive styling, 'high gloss' black and sleek lines have been used to create a visually appealing design that will look very smart in your home or office. We describe the shredder as having an 8 sheet capacity and by this we mean you can take 8 sheets of paper and shred them all in one go (based on 75gsm). The AS800CD cross cuts documents into small 5 x 47mm pieces which is very secure, it can also shred a single credit card at a time, and don't worry if you accidentally shred a paper clip or staple, this shredder will cope with both.
In addition there is a separate slot for shredding CD or DVD's, this separate shredding mechanism strip cuts the CD into 4 pieces destroying the CD, the separate shredding slot means that you don't have to put the CD through the slot intended for paper which should extend the life of your shredder. The large 16L waste bin will ensure that you don't have to empty it every 5 mins, and there is a large viewing window so you can see when it is full. The shredder itself has a built-in handle for easy removal and emptying, auto mode for shredding, a reverse option for clearing any jams, safety cut outs prevent accidental operation, and thermal cut outs protect your shredder from overheating.
Overall this is a very good home/office shredder that will perform well and look good, in addition the range of features available at this price point make the AS800CD excellent value for money.

I needed a shredder to shred the typical household things, like receipts and bank statements, and this does the job, whilst looking good.
PROS:
- Sturdy and solid build. The head is rather heavy, but has an aesthetic handle at the top to lift it from the bin;
- Nice sleek design (doesn't look "officey" at all);
- Shreds the paper into really tiny pieces, which was a concern with a non-cross cut shredder. If I had hamsters, they would have a happy home;
- It handles many receipts & paper at one go at a good speed - I do not tend to feed it much at one go (just a personal preference), but the heavy head definitely has a manly enough shredder;
- The new engine inside smells quite nice when you first start using it;
- It shreds CDs. It has a nice guard on the CD shredder, too;
CONS:
- I cannot see any drawbacks to it right now. It's exactly what I needed.
NOTE: When shredding bank statements (around 4 sheets), do not fold them, as this can give the shredder a bit of a hard time. This is NOT the shredders' fault, as it clearly states that it can "only" take up to 8 sheets, which is really great. I managed to temporarily jam it by feeding it a folded 4 sheet bank statement, but it was easily resolved by pressing the Auto and Reverse buttons.

This was a replacement for my old 'strip' shredder, and I'd have to say this is a great product, and so far I've had no issues with it at all. It has happily "munched" it's way through a whole stack of old bills & statements, and didn't even sneer when there were staples in some of them. The credit card slot also works well, but I have not tried out the CD shredding yet; however based on what I've found so far I do not anticipate any issues if ever I need to destroy a CD.
Although it coped with 8 sheets, I found it easier to do no more than 5 at a time, and although the motor does get warm I haven't found any issues with it cutting out (unlike my old shredder).
All in all a great product 9/10

I thought I had bought a faulty specimen and only when a replacement was sent (good service from Amazon!) did I realise that it was the instruction leaflet and not the shredder that was at fault. When the unit is placed on the bin (all the leaflet says is to push it firmly into place) the hardly noticeable little tab at the back which covers a concealed safety switch naturally slips inside the bin - and the shredder will not work! It must be located over the OUTER side of the bin. With this proviso, I do recommend this shredder.

Excellent!
After our old shredder gave up the ghost we decided on this one and it a far superior model, shreds better and not as noisy, the shape is better too not as wide as the last one.
