The AS424C is a great shredder to use at home and in a small office, the first thing to notice about the AS424C is its size, it is much smaller than most shredders and rather than being floor standing it is designed for use on a tabletop or on a desk. The small size allows for great space saving, portability and also easy storage if you don’t want your shredder on display all the time. To enable the product to be this size though we had to make the paper entry slot 11.5cm wide, so a typical A4 sheet of paper needs to be folded in half lengthways so it will fit into the shredder. We describe the shredder as having a 4 sheet capacity and by this we mean you can take 4 sheets of A4 paper, fold them in half and shred them all in one go. (If you want to shred full width A4 documents without folding them then please look at the Aurora AS610C 6 sheet shredder.) The AS424C cross cuts documents into small 5 x 47mm pieces which is very secure, it can also shred a single credit card at a time, and don't worry if you accidentally shred a paper clip or staple, this shredder will cope with both. The 5 litre bin is small but good for around 40 sheets before it needs emptying and is transparent so you can view its contents. The shredder itself has a handle for easy removal, auto mode for shredding, a reverse option for clearing any jams, safety cut outs prevent accidental operation, and thermal cut outs protect your shredder from overheating.Overall this is a great little shredder, however if you have been saving up your shredding for months and intend to shred a small rainforest then this probably isn’t for you, try the Aurora AS1018CD 10 sheet shredder. If you want a good reliable home shredder, that doesn’t take up lots of room, that you can store easily, and that will shred your junk mail and receipts on a regular basis, then this is for you.

Just got one of these and I must say I do like it. I have never owned a shredder before, but had looked at several and didn't want anything too big. I don't have much room and intend on using the shredder and then putting it away in my cupboard and this one sounded perfect. It sits nicely on my table, you have to fold your paper in half and feed it in to the opening and small pieces of cut up paper fall into the bin below. I have emptied it, the top is light enough for me to lift off and it's really easy to empty. I received excellent service from Amazon, the shredder arrived very quickly and was very well packaged. I was unsure about getting this product due to other reviews for this product and other products which say that they jam easily. However I've had no such problems with this. It's a really nice compact size so doesn't take up so much space, but it's not so small that you have to be continually emptying it. Although the paper feed is small than the usual A4 size, it does cut the paper at a pretty fast pace so it doesn't take long to do your shredding jobs. I'm really happy with it and would recommend others to buy it too.

First time I have owned a shredder, though I have used them at work, but mostly big bulky items that occupy the space of a small filing cabinet. I wanted something small and neat but still effective and strong. I think I found it with this item.
Absolutely first class delivery - ordered at about 8 pm Friday night, arrived 10 am Saturday morning. Excellent!! Well packed in a good box.
My first impression getting it out of the box was that its quite heavy for such a small item (its about the size and wieght of a big saucepan). This is a GOOD THING as it feels sturdy and strong.
Very easy to set up - the top black part containing all the workings sits on top of the plastic clear bucket where the paper shreds drop. All you do is put them together and plug in.
The instructions are simple, but clear and in good english. It tells you what you can ahred and what you cant. (small staples are ok but not big ones, small paperclips yes but not big ones, etc) Within five minutes I was testing it out on junk mail and clutter around my desk.
Its fairly noisy when running but not too much, and it is silent on standby waiting for its next paper to chew. The bits that come out into the bucket are pretty small, not exactly confetti, but not far off. I have put a supermarket carrier bag into the bucket to prevent mess when emptying it and it fits fine.
All in all I think this is a great little machine and absolutely worth the price I paid (£22.00, free shipping on prime). Very happy purchase, full five stars and would recommend to friends.

Excellent compact shredder

Small but effective
Does the job, a compact (small) unit, it works as well as it's larger counterparts, you just have to empty it a little more often.
