Product Description
The AS1023CD is a great shredder to use at home or in an office, it combines excellent performance and safety features with a price point well below its competitors. We describe the shredder as having a 10 sheet capacity and by this we mean you can take 10 sheets of paper and shred them all in one go (based on 75gsm). The AS1023CD cross cuts documents into small 5 x 55mm pieces which is very secure, it can also shred a single credit card at a time, and don't worry if you accidentally shred a paper clip or staple, this shredder will cope with both.
In addition there is a separate slot for shredding a CD or DVD, this separate shredding mechanism cuts the CD into 4 pieces destroying the CD, the separate shredding slot means that you don't have to put the CD through the slot intended for paper which should extend the life of your shredder. The large 18L waste bin will ensure that you don't have to empty it every 5 mins, and there is a large viewing window so you can see when it is full. The shredder has a pull out waste bin for easy removal meaning you dont have to lift the shredder head off the base when emptying - just simply slide out the bin, empty it and slide back into place.
There are a host of functions and safety features; including 'auto mode' which senses when the shredder should start and stop - when in auto mode there is a status indicator which lights up, 'Reverse' is used for clearing any jams, misfeeds or overloads, 'Thermal Overload' protects your shredder from overheating, the unit will cut out and not operate until cooled - there is also a status indicator that lights up should the thermal cut out be activated, there are also two further status indicators that light up, one for 'Overload' when you have inserted too much paper, and one for 'Bin Alignment' usually indicating the pull out bin has not been closed properly, both will light up and for safety prevent the shredder from operating. In addition there are further safety measures, a safety cut out prevents the shredder from operating if the bin is open or when the shredder head is not installed on the base correctly, we also have the patented feature 'ShredSafe', this is a safety cover on the top of the unit you can see in the pictures, the cover has 3 positions, closed - for when not is use, open for normal operation of the shredder, and a 3rd wide open position that operates the safety cut out, so basically if anyone trys to force anything including fingers into the shredder this will force the cover into the 3rd position instantly stopping the shredder from operating. To start shredding again simply return the ShredSafe cover to the middle operating position.
Overall this is a great home and office shredder that performs well, looks good and is easy to useand empty, the additional safety features and user friendly functions make the AS1023CD a great purchase for anyone looking for a reliable and safe new shredder.

Whilst looking for a replacement for my 10 year old Rexel machine I investigated all makes and reviews before opting for this and I have to say I'm extremely pleased with the purchase and performance. As I work from home most of the time its important I have robust and reliable office equipment and this machine certainly fits the bill - slightly more pricey than other makes and models offered on Amazon however the looks and build quality suggest this unit will last. Well worth the investment - highly recommended.

Bought this 4 months ago to replace my previous shredder which had finally ground to a halt. I work from home and need a shredder that is both reliable and not too noisy and this Aurora has worked out perfectly. It has a nice pull out draw which makes emptying easy and has shredded everything i have put in it without hesitation. I tend not to put 10 sheets through and shred as i go, so probably 4-5 sheets is all i would shred at one time and it whizzes through these without hesitation and with minimal noise. I paid around the £60 mark and think this was great value, i could of spent a lot more and fail to see how i could of got a better home/office shredder.
Based on its performance over the last 4 months, the price i paid, the build quality and its quite nice appearance I would certainly recommend this shredder to others.

Delivery very quick. Assembly simple, tho' fitting casters took some 'encouragement! First week's use shows it works well; not too loud, copes with > 8 sheets 80gsm without struggling. Have run extensively in short 10 min sessions so far without problems (clearing out home office/papers!). Those with starting problems as previously reported might take care to ensure that the drawer is fully seated home before the safety switch (green light) functions.
This is my 4th shredder (previously Fellowes and 5 Star, which have all died within 2 years) and I rate it highly. After extensive research final buying decision was based on reported after-sales service and Aurora monitoring/response to comments on Amazon.

Beware!
The waste bin has a latch that must connect to the shredding unit to disengage the safety cutout. the shredder cannot be used without the bin. Read more

Fantastic
Brilliant shredder. I shredded 3 bags full of old documents without a hitch. It does take an hour to cool down after an overheat but that's not really a problem,
